MAGA Inc. and the Congressional Leadership Fund are halting planned spending in two key congressional districts held by sitting House Republicans as Election Day approaches. This strategic shift removes financial support from Rep. Tom Kean of New Jersey and Rep. Marianette Miller-Meeks of Iowa, redirecting resources to other races nationwide.
A source familiar with MAGA Inc.'s plans confirmed to Fox News Digital that the group is reallocating its investments for the remainder of the midterm cycle. Separately, a source indicated that the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC aligned with House GOP leadership, is also pulling its cash from these districts to reroute it into other contests. Both groups intend to use these funds in other House races across the country.
The withdrawal follows recent polling data suggesting that the incumbents' chances for re-election have diminished. Projections indicate that Republicans face an increasingly difficult path to maintaining control of the House of Representatives. The latest Fox News Power Rankings show Democrats holding an edge in 219 House seats, a number sufficient to clinch a majority, while Republicans are projected to keep 198 seats. Nineteen seats remain undecided.
Kean represents New Jersey's 7th Congressional District, one of the wealthiest in both the state and the nation, which includes suburbs and exurbs north of New York City. A source close to Kean's campaign told Fox News Digital that the race is fully funded down the home stretch. The source stated that Kean's campaign and House Republicans' campaign arm have major reservations regarding broadcast advertising, noting that his Democratic opponent, Rebecca Bennett, has no such soft dollar limitations.
Kean initially won his seat in 2022 by defeating incumbent former Rep. Tom Malinowski by less than 10,000 votes. His 2024 re-election margin was wider, with a victory by just over 5 percent, or 23,000 more votes than his Democratic challenger. Miller-Meeks represents Iowa's 1st Congressional District in the state's southeast, encompassing Davenport and Iowa City. She is seeking a fourth term against Democrat Christina Bohannan.
Miller-Meeks defeated Bohannan twice previously, winning by roughly 20,000 votes in 2022 and 800 votes in 2024. Her initial victory in 2020 came by just six votes, a margin that earned her the nickname "six-pack" among fellow House Republicans and GOP leadership. The New York Times first reported that top Republican super PACs aligned with President Trump and congressional Republican leadership were pulling funding from these districts due to polling concerns.
The Congressional Leadership Fund is reportedly reshuffling its war chest into other districts where Republicans are more confident in their prospects. The Times reported that this includes battleground districts represented by Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania and Rep. Monica De La Cruz of Texas. A source familiar with CLF's planning told Fox News Digital that the group is also withdrawing funding from Michigan's 8th Congressional District and Ohio's 1st Congressional District. In those races, Republicans had hoped to unseat Reps. Kristen McDonald Rivet of Michigan and Greg Landsman of Ohio. Fox News Digital reached out to Miller-Meeks' campaign but did not immediately hear back.
