Stock market leadership shifted away from large technology names on Tuesday as smaller and industrial companies posted third-quarter results that drove significant share price gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 529.85 points, or 1.02%, to close at 52,495.88, while the small-cap Russell 2000 index rose 1.65%. In contrast, the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.02% to 26,424.82 and the S&P 500 added a modest 0.28% to 7,712.57. According to Stock Analysis data, four stocks outside the megacap technology sector gained between 4.47% and 11.33% during the session.
The sharp moves in these four companies were driven by distinct fundamental factors rather than a single market trend. 3M Company (NYSE: MMM) shares rose 5.78% to $171.37 after the industrial manufacturer reported third-quarter GAAP sales of $6.6 billion, up 1.0%. The company also announced an expanded strategic commercial relationship with a major cloud and e-commerce company to deploy optical connectivity products for data centers. As part of this deal, the partner received a warrant to purchase up to 3.2 million shares of 3M common stock, contingent on achieving $6 billion in cumulative sales of those products over the next seven years. 3M raised its 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $9.10 to $9.15.
Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX) saw its shares jump 11.33% to $176.54 despite trimming its full-year revenue outlook. The credit data company reported third-quarter revenue of $1.693 billion, up 10%, and adjusted EPS of $2.26, up 11%. While U.S. Mortgage revenue grew 15%, Equifax noted that the mortgage market weakened in the latter half of the quarter as interest rates increased substantially. Consequently, the company reduced the midpoint of its 2026 revenue guidance to $6.661 billion, though it maintained that its adjusted EPS guidance of $8.50 per share remained well within its previous range.
Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) shares surged 11.20% to $109.52 following a report that Magic: The Gathering revenue rose 34% to surpass $600 million in a quarter for the first time. This growth helped drive a 15% increase in overall third-quarter revenue, with Wizards and Digital Gaming sales up 31%. Hasbro raised its 2026 outlook for total revenue growth to 7% to 9% in constant currency and increased its adjusted EBITDA guidance to between $1.575 billion and $1.625 billion.
KeyCorp (NYSE: KEY), a Cleveland-based bank, completed the group with a 4.47% gain to $20.81. The bank reported record quarterly revenue of $2.04 billion, up 8% from a year earlier, and net income of $537 million, or $0.51 per diluted common share, which represented a 24% year-over-year increase in diluted EPS. KeyCorp also repurchased $320 million of common shares during the quarter.
