Tesla demonstrated its next-generation Roadster in Waco, Texas, where the electric supercar briefly flew, drove upside down, and accelerated to 60 mph in under a second. The performance marks a significant departure from the specifications first outlined when a prototype was revealed as a surprise announcement during the 2017 Tesla Semi event. At that time, the vehicle was projected to reach 60 mph in 1.9 seconds, achieve a top speed exceeding 250 mph, and utilize a 200 kWh battery. While the recent demonstration showed the car capable of sub-second acceleration to 60 mph, Tesla has stated that the next-generation Roadster will not enter production until 2028.
