The smart speaker market is effectively controlled by Apple, Google, Sonos, and Amazon, yet WiiM's 100W Sound is currently 15 percent off at Amazon and through WiiM's own storefront. Both the black and white versions drop from $299.99 to $254.15. The case for the Sound rests on platform breadth. The complication is that one major ecosystem is still off the table.
The Sound's connectivity covers Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and ethernet, and it supports more than 20 music services. Chromecast, Spotify Connect, DLNA, and Alexa Cast compatibility mean the speaker folds into an existing Google Home or Amazon Echo setup without a platform change. That's the portfolio argument. The dominant players in this market all extract a platform commitment as the price of entry; the WiiM Sound does not.
WiiM's Sound Lite is also 15 percent off, moving from $229 to $194.65 at Amazon and through WiiM directly. It shares dimensions, connectivity, and 100W output with the Sound, and it adds AI-driven room sound adaptation that the Sound does not include. The trade-offs are physical: no 1.8-inch touch display for album art, and no voice remote in the box. The remote is sold separately at around $33. Both the Sound and the Sound Lite support wireless pairing with each other and with other recent WiiM products for surround sound configurations.
The counterargument is Apple. AirPlay 2 is absent from the WiiM Sound, which cuts off iPhone-native multi-room audio. WiiM does support AirPlay 2, but through the Pro Music Streamer, a separate product, not through the Sound itself. Anyone whose household runs primarily on Apple hardware will encounter that limitation before the rest of the spec sheet becomes relevant.
On balance, the 15 percent reduction is worth attention because the Sound is rarely discounted and both colorways are at the same price. The line to watch is the buyer's existing platform. Outside the Apple ecosystem, the Sound at $254.15 is a credible claim on a category long controlled by names with considerably more marketing weight.
