Microsoft has introduced new artificial intelligence coding models designed to operate locally on individual laptops and personal computers. This shift aims to address privacy concerns and reduce operational costs by moving processing power from the cloud to user hardware.
The update includes support for the Nvidia Nemotron model for local execution. Additionally, the DeepSeek V4 Flash model will be compatible with devices featuring 60GB of memory. Microsoft claims this specific model outperforms GPT-5 on certain coding tasks. The company's Copilot tool will now delegate tasks to these local models when privacy or cost efficiency are prioritized. These hybrid intelligence features are scheduled to roll out over the coming months.
Beyond coding, Meta's Muse model is being integrated into the Windows operating system. Microsoft also announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, which features a new magnetic USB-C charging system. In a separate gaming announcement, the Call of Duty franchise is scheduled to arrive on Nvidia RTX Spark machines in 2027.
