Clark and Mitchell make the case
Indiana's first-quarter burst set the terms. The Fever opened a 17-point advantage after one period, and Clark finished with a team-high 32. Kelsey Mitchell, her backcourt running mate, shot 9 for 18 from the field and added 28 points. That scoring load gave Indiana the cushion it needed once Seattle started pressing in the second half.
The counterargument: Seattle's recovery
The Storm did not fold. Coming in at 4-10 at Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle found something after halftime and clawed the deficit back to four points by the start of the fourth quarter. Natisha Hiedeman led all scorers on the night with 33 for the Storm. That comeback had teeth, and the risk for Indiana was real entering the fourth. The Storm's rally largely stopped once the final period began.
Boston's injury is the line to watch
The injury concern surfaced in the second quarter. Boston set a screen, rolled toward the basket, and got tangled with Flau'jae Johnson before falling hard to the floor. She grabbed her right knee immediately. Officials called a foul on the play. Boston was helped off the court, listed as questionable to return, and then ruled out for the rest of the game.
On balance
Indiana's offense held up without Boston for most of the second half. What's changed heading into Friday is the uncertainty around her availability. The Fever's West Coast trip continues against the Portland Fire.
