Wil Lutz kicked a 53-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Denver Broncos to a 17-14 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night. The win came despite a second-half offensive collapse that left Denver managing only 36 yards on eight possessions.

The decisive sequence began with a defensive stop. Seattle received the opening possession in overtime, facing a third-and-seven from its own 28-yard line. Sam Darnold attempted a throw into double coverage along the sideline but lost sight of Denver cornerback Ja'Quan McMillian. McMillian intercepted the pass, positioning the Broncos at Seattle's 43-yard line. Head coach Sean Payton then ran the ball three consecutive times to consume clock and center the hash, setting up Lutz for the game-winning kick.

The contrast between the first and second halves was stark. For the first twenty minutes, Denver dominated time of possession, building a 14-3 halftime lead on two methodical drives finished by J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey. However, the Broncos' offense stalled significantly after the break. Bo Nix completed passes for only 107 yards and offered no downfield threat. Seattle mounted a fourth-quarter comeback, pulling within 14-11 on a George Holani touchdown followed by a two-point conversion pass from Darnold to Rashid Shaheed. With three seconds remaining in regulation, Jason Myers kicked a 34-yard field goal to force overtime.

Denver's defense proved decisive in keeping the game close. Playing without Patrick Surtain II, the Broncos' front seven pressured Darnold heavily, sacking him five times. The defense generated critical turnovers, including a strip-sack by Nik Bonitto on Shaheed in scoring territory and a fourth-quarter interception by Kris Abrams-Draine. McMillian's overtime pick sealed the result.

Seattle's offensive production was neutralized by these turnovers. The Seahawks recorded 353 total yards, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 12 passes for 134 yards, but three turnovers erased their statistical advantage. The result moves Denver to a 4-2 record, sitting behind undefeated Kansas City in their division. Payton now faces a short break before hosting the Arizona Cardinals, with an urgent need to resolve his team's issues moving the ball past the line of scrimmage.
