Two survival capsules priced between $27,000 and $33,500 are moving toward market, with Momentum Technologies, a French startup, posting European retail prices for its LifePods B-01 and W-01 models and targeting first deliveries from Barcelona, Spain, in October 2026. Both figures are approximate dollar conversions of the 25,000 euro and 31,000 euro list prices before VAT, shipping and import costs. The risk is that neither capsule has completed its full certification program.
Two products, two certification timelines
The B-01 is the armored model, built for ballistic threats, armed attacks and degraded environments, aimed primarily at security teams, industrial sites and critical infrastructure operators. Representative test panels have earned VPAM PM7 certification, confirming resistance to 7.62x51mm military ammunition. That covers the panels. SR7 civil validation for the complete B-01 as an integrated product, including structural joints, doors and ventilation, remains in progress.
The W-01 is the floating capsule, designed for tsunamis, hurricanes and dam failures. It holds four adults, carries exterior grab bars for survivors already in the water, and includes a geolocation and emergency distress transmission system. Inha Works Ltd. (IWL), a Yamaha Motor Group company, modeled its structural behavior using naval engineering simulation software. Physical testing is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026.
What the prices include, and what they don't
The list prices cover the capsule alone. Momentum says international shipping from the Port of Barcelona, customs clearance, import duties, local taxes, transportation and installation are all additional. The company has not yet published landed-cost estimates for U.S. buyers. A commercial partner based in San Diego, California handles U.S. inquiries. Domestic inventory is planned for 2027.
Momentum expects initial demand from government agencies, civil protection organizations and critical infrastructure operators, but private buyers can place pre-orders now.
The counterargument
Pricing and pre-orders arrive ahead of completed certifications on both products. Engineering simulation is a validation input, not field performance. The W-01 has not begun physical testing, and the B-01 still needs integrated system approval beyond its panel results. Any buyer committing at this stage is accepting Momentum's certification schedule as given, with no independent proof yet that the full capsule performs to spec under the chaotic conditions a disaster produces.
On balance
Momentum has done enough to distinguish LifePods from a trade show concept. The company tapped a Yamaha Motor Group subsidiary for W-01 structural modeling and cleared VPAM PM7 on the B-01 armor panels. Delivery dates are specific and tied to a defined certification schedule. The line to watch is the W-01 physical testing sequence, scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. That program, covering flotation, sea trials and extreme-condition laboratory testing, will decide whether the product justifies its asking price.
