USC radio announcer Pete Arbogast's real-time description of a hit on Oregon quarterback Dante Moore has drawn criticism for contradicting visible evidence of the play.
The incident occurred during the second quarter of the game last Saturday, when USC linebacker Desman Stephens struck Moore in the helmet, knocking the quarterback out of the game and sending him to a nearby hospital on a stretcher.
In the broadcast booth, Arbogast stated that Stephens went in helmet-first and that Moore ducked into the hit, adding that he did not see Moore put his feet out first.
The announcer described the motion as a forward dive rather than a slide. This account conflicted with the actions of the players on the field and the subsequent review of the footage.
