A legal contest over sports prediction markets is taking shape in Connecticut, where Underdog has filed suit to block cease-and-desist orders the state issued against it.
The complicating factor is who Connecticut swept up at the same time: Polymarket and Coinbase also received orders, a grouping that signals the state sees an entire product category as subject to its oversight rather than a compliance failure at any one company.
The case Underdog presses is about that breadth. Connecticut sent cease-and-desist notices to all three platforms as prediction market operators.
If the court accepts the state's framing, any platform in the sports prediction space carries the same regulatory exposure, regardless of how it has structured its own compliance.
