Treasury issues $500 refunds to 950,000 Americans in 30 states

Treasury has begun issuing $500 refund checks to more than 950,000 Americans across 30 states, an action the administration frames as a return of overcharged fees from the federal health insurance exchange.

An administration official told Fox News Digital that the payments are accompanied by a personal letter from President Donald Trump, which asserts that the Biden administration overcharged users to fund the operation of HealthCare.gov.

The refunds target individuals who purchased health insurance through the federal exchange operated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services but did not receive premium tax credits or other taxpayer subsidies.

The 30 states involved do not maintain their own Affordable Care Act exchanges and therefore relied on the federal platform.
