Swan, the Calabasas-based platform billing itself as The Real Bitcoin Company, has cut its Bitcoin purchase fee in half for a 50-day window ending Labor Day, framing the promotion around America's 250th anniversary and the idea of monetary independence.
The pitch: a lower fee means more of every dollar converts to $BTC a buyer actually controls. Whether that fee compression shifts custody habits in the long run, or merely front-loads purchases, is the open question.
The campaign's case Swan's framing connects the fee reduction directly to self-custody.
At half the standard rate, a buyer gets more Bitcoin per dollar and, by Swan's account, Bitcoin they can withdraw from the platform and hold independently.
