Shopify (NASDAQ: SHOP) is down 4% to $147.24 in Monday midday trading, giving back gains after an 18% run over the past month.
The tension in that setup: the August advance had genuine fundamentals behind it, and today's move has none of the catalysts that would explain a structural shift.
The mechanism for August's climb was the Q2 2026 report, released August 5. Business-to-business GMV grew 76% year over year, well above the company's overall GMV growth of 32%, with total GMV reaching $116 billion.
Shopify also extended native B2B capabilities beyond Shopify Plus for the first time in Q2, widening the merchant pool that can run wholesale and direct-to-consumer operations from a single admin.
