A new survey finds 77% of Americans consider cryptocurrency a risky addition to workplace retirement plans. The case for that caution is plain enough.

The complication is that US policymakers are moving in the opposite direction, working to expand access to alternative assets inside those plans. At 77%, the skepticism is not a slim majority or a close split.

It is broad enough to represent something closer to a public consensus.

For anyone tracking the retirement-policy debate, that share carries weight: the workers who would be most directly affected by any any rule change are, by a wide margin, wary of it.
