Intel retreats 6% after a 188% run as rising yields reprice the chip sector

Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) shed 6% to $99.67 in early Thursday trading, giving back part of a 188% year-to-date advance on no new company-specific catalyst.

The tension worth watching: the unit economics behind that run remain intact. Intel's Q2 FY2026 revenue rose 25.4% year over year to $16.13 billion, with Data Center and AI segment revenue up 59%.

The read-through from Thursday's session is mechanical rather than fundamental. NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) pulled back 3% to $214.55, and AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) fell 3% to $505.66.

The iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ: SOXX) dropped 3%, nearly triple the 1.14% decline in the Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ: QQQ). That spread signals a sector rotation rather than broad technology de-risking.
