Florida State's Jimbo Fisher nostalgia is understandable. The case for it doesn't hold.

The firing of Florida State athletic director Michael Alford this week cleared the first obstacle on the Seminoles' road back to relevance.

The complication is what fans have filled that cleared space with: a loud campaign to bring back Jimbo Fisher, a coach three years removed from the sideline whose most recent tenure, at Texas A&M, never came close to meeting expectations.
