A chartered helicopter went down Wednesday in a mountainous area of northern Kenya, killing five Americans.
Among those killed was José Suárez, the president and general manager of Telemundo, who oversaw multiple stations in Florida.
The aircraft, a Eurocopter EC130 B4 registered as 5Y-GYM and operated by Lady Lori Helicopters, was on a charter flight from Suyian Conservancy, a 44,000-acre private wildlife refuge, when it crashed around 9 a.m.
local time near Kirish in Samburu County. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the crash occurred in mountainous terrain near Mount Otolokwe; the flight had been heading to Otolokwe at the time it went down.
