The case for reducing Ethereum's block times just got institutional backing.
Ethereum Institutional, a non-profit, has signaled support for a motion brought by Ethlabs to shorten the intervals at which the Ethereum network confirms new blocks.
What complicates the picture is that block time reductions carry tradeoffs the blockchain community has long debated, and the rationale offered may matter as much as the motion itself.
Ethereum Institutional's endorsement now sits behind it, and the non-profit did not frame the move as a technical optimization for its own sake.
