Sebastian Maniscalco faces backlash from fellow comedians over the rebranding of SiriusXM's Raw Comedy channel, with critics arguing the shift to his Comedy Radio station has displaced lesser-known artists and concentrated revenue among celebrity names.
The dispute centers on a programming change that occurred earlier this year, replacing a lineup that featured a broad pool of comics with one headlined by major stars.
Stand Up for Stand Up, a nonprofit supporting comedians, stated that the rebranding drastically shifted the channel from a wider pool of more than 800 comedians receiving spins, royalties, and exposure to a narrower group.
The organization reported that among the few hundred comedians still receiving plays, over 75 percent of those spins go to the top 50 artists.
