Bitcoin and ethereum prices retreated on Thursday, September 10, 2026, as market participants braced for upcoming inflation reports that could influence the Federal Reserve's next rate decision.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) opened at $78,291.64, a 0.2% decrease from Wednesday's opening price, and slid to $77,941.56 by 7:19 a.m.
Ethereum (ETH-USD) opened at $2,467, down 0.7% from the previous day's open, before falling to $2,464.92 at the same time.
Both major cryptocurrencies opened at their lowest levels this week, a dip occurring less than a week before the Federal Reserve begins its two-day rate-setting meeting on Tuesday.
