Bill Maher has placed the Democratic Party on notice, declaring on HBO's "Real Time" that his vote is no longer guaranteed and pointing to the Democratic Socialists of America's growing grip on the party's internal politics as the reason.
The case for concern is specific: when two House Democrats circulated a pledge stating "we are capitalists, not socialists," only eight of their 212 colleagues signed it.
A raging fire that no one is putting out Maher's language was deliberate.
He described DSA influence as "a raging fire festival in the party that neither is anyone putting out," and he named two Democratic representatives, Tom Suozzi of New York and Adam Gray of California, who had tried to draw a line.
